This is the company most noted for its beloved Hummel figurines. They began the company making marbles, slates and slate pencils. Porcelain production began in 1876. They produced half dolls from after World War I until the 1930s when the dolls fell out of fashion. They produced many fine quality half dolls modeled after women of different periods. They also produced beautiful "chocolatiers dolls" which are covered in another section of this website. (Luven)
The Goebel Company made several half dolls modeled on four prominent royal ladies: Empress Eugenie of France; Maria Theresia, the Empress of Austria; Elisabeth (Elizabeth) of Austria, known as: SISSI; and Empress Augusta. All the half dolls are marked with the Goebel crown mark. (Half)
The Whilmesfeld half doll, which I have seen referred to as Marie Antoinette, was very popular, especially as a tea cozy. (Marion)
