Mlle. Adelaide Calixte Huret was one of the first significant fashion doll producers of the 19th century. She manufactured doll heads and bodies in her own factory. Many of the bodies were made of gutta-percha. Since this material is not very durable, it is difficult to find these bodies in good condition today. Some bodies were made of wood with the same markings as the gutta-percha bodies. The clothing was also marked Huret. Some early dolls were marked "Maison Montmatre Paris" along with a picture of Napoleon III and "EXPOISTION UNIVERSELLE 1855". This inscription was based on the silver medal that her doll won at the exhibition. A dressing table that accompanied the doll was also highly praised. Starting in 1867, all Huret dolls were marked with an award she one at an international exhibition. The mark was "MEDAILLE D'ARGET and "EXHIBITION UNIVERSELE 1867".
