In 1860 Mlle. Leontine Rohmer began to make dolls that were very similar to the Huret dolls. - making Mlle. Huret worried and angry. As a matter of fact, Mlle. Huret made an appeal to authorities forcing Rohmer to stop production in 1880. This is surprising since the bodies of the dolls are very different, having been based on a patent belonging to Reidmeister, her brother-in-law. The bodies were a punched out metal, and were quite durable.
Rohmer dolls are rare. The can be found with heads of glazed china or bisque. Many of the dolls have a fixed neck with the head and shoulder plate made in one piece. Early in 1858, she did patent a swivel head that allowed a side-to-side- movement.
The bodies of Rohmer's dolls are sometimes marked with an oval ink stamp on their chests.
