The initials E.B stand for E. Barrois. The heads came on many types of bodies. Mme. Barrois is recorded to have made dolls between 1858 and 1877 at 2 different locations - 163 and 192 rue St. Martin, Paris. There is some speculation that there might have been more than one E. Barrois, possibly a husband or son of Mme. Barrois. The dolls are marked E.B. or E. Depose B. There are a variety of bodies: leather; leather with bisque arms; or leather-over-wood knees and upper arms.
