Ever hear of Speed Dating? Well, Speed Geeking is to technology what Speed Dating is to relationships ... a chance to learn about a new-to-you Web 2.0 technology, and then choose ONE that you would like to get to know a little better. Web 2.0 applications are tools that will allow you and your students to collaborate online. You can choose from a Ning which is an online platform for people to create their own social networks, Edmodo - a private microblogging platform that teachers and students can use to send notes, links, files, alerts, assignments, and events to each other. Create a classroom wiki or blog so that you and your students can write and comment online to extend learning beyond the classroom walls, use Animoto to create quick and easy videos ... and more. Once you've been introduced to a few - there will be time to get to know the technology of your choice a little better. This is a great opportunity to collaborate with classroom teachers and help them address the Common Core standards.
